Connected Movement with Chani Grieve
Connected Movement classes are a playful but potent method of self-enquiry through movement. By gently exploring novel movements with awareness, habitual patterns are revealed and long-held tensions can begin to release. This not only leads to a better functioning body, but also brings surprising changes in other areas of life. Because moving, sensing, thinking and feeling are inseparable in reality, people often report that improvements in movement and perception lead them to feel more flexible, responsive and expressive in their thinking and emotional lives. Movement nurtures our natural creativity and compassion, and is part of a holistic approach to human development.

Classes and workshops are based on the Feldenkrais Method - a learning modality that harnesses the power of awareness and neuroplasticity to effect positive, long-lasting change.

Giving and Receiving
Why Dharma Teachers Don’t Charge Fees
The gift, to be true, must be the flowing of the giver unto me, correspondent to my flowing unto him.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

The act of giving strengthens the giver and supports the receiver. To provide practitioners with opportunities to practice generosity is part of the responsibility of Dharma teachers, and Dharma centres.
Traditionally, liberation teachings are offered freely because they are so precious that no value can be assigned to them . . . to receive them is a privilege. This is a view that doesn’t span cultures very easily. Here in the heart of materialist culture, many believe that if something is free, it must not be worth much. We must test these views with our own direct experience, through study and practice and dialogue with our teachers before we can begin to conceive how rare a gift the opportunity to transform our lives truly is. Clear Vision for Troubling Times
An exploration of timeless wisdom through the lens of here and now with Bonni Ross. This series of public talks has been interrupted. Below are recordings of some of them.
How can we engage compassionately with the struggles of our world, when our own hearts and minds are contracted in pain and anger, uncertainty and depression? Buddhadharma’s clear mapping of reality and skillful methods of exploration have crossed many cultural boundaries and adapted to new circumstances without losing their essence and power. The ideas and practices arise ever-fresh, practical and clear. For anyone willing to listen, question, learn and practice, life becomes calmer and clearer, steadier as the winds of change blow. The potential is only limited by one’s own willingness to put the teachings to the test of direct experience, in dialogue with others who have walked this path. This leads to a confidence that allows opening to wider horizons, with a refreshed, reliable kindness and clarity.
Class Four, 21 March 2020.
These videos are the two parts of the last class we had before New Zealand began 4 weeks of Time Out! They are wonderful talks that contain useful gems of teaching to help keep us healthy and in good states of mind during this period of the virus and social isolation.
